Here we are, living history. These next few months, and the few that came before, will be talked about for decades to come. We have never experienced anything quite like this. As we watch for updates on the coronavirus situation, we should try to look for the positives. They are out there. Our attitudes will determine how we make it through this. We have the power to make this a wonderful time to look back on.
We have time with our families
With schools closed, most businesses having their employees work from home, and most recreational sites closed, we have time together that we haven’t had in a long time. Take this opportunity to make new memories with your family. Play board games together, go on walks, sit down and talk with each other, eat all your meals together, get to know the hopes and dreams you each hold dear. It might surprise you what you discover.
Time for learning a new hobby
Many businesses have had to alter the way they provide services. We have so much technology available to us that we can learn pretty much anything we want. Use the opportunity provided to you to learn something new. Take some virtual classes. You can’t go to the gym or dojo right now, so let it into your home. Take advantage of this time to get in shape and stretch your body and mind.
Take time to slow down
Today’s world is full of pressure to get things done and get them done quickly. We are constantly moving from one thing to the next. As we find ourselves stuck at home, we find that things can slow down. We can take this chance to turn off the media for a while and just relax. We can’t go anywhere anyway, so slow down and breathe.
In the years to come, we will reflect on this time. Did we make the most of the situation? What could we have done better? Choose wisely; our children are watching.
